@thereapersson
won't be that expensive.
since a DS3 controller costs about $50 plus say another $50 for SD receiver, extra analog and R/L buttons. It'll be lucky to reach an extra $100....and of course prices will drop with reduced production costs.
Sony will be fools not to do this - especially when Ps3 sales start rocketing with the next price drop next year.
Let me whine in peace.
BTW.
I just thought of a new CO...
Keep it simple
* Giant Map that enables the use of all current vehicles and jet packs
* An Elephant-like(Halo 3) vehicle. This should be heavily armoured and be able to take a huge amount of hits, have significant anti-air and anti-tank ability but be slower than a tank. I should be stationed only at the main base so that it enables the team that has lost all bases, to have a fighting chance of getting out of main base.
* Tomahawk/cruise missle laucher. ...
I'm still whining.
Just make a PSP2 with rumble, six-axis, dual analogs, R1&2, L1&2. It should also be able to receive a SD-AV transmissions from an add-on connected to your Ps3 so you can fully control/use your ps3 anywhere in your house as well as play all your Ps3 games from the PSP2. Awesomeness supreme.
The Psp2 and Ps3 would compliment each other significantly.
Competitive Pricing.
And there's only one way to do it:
Evolution not revolution.
Thank you Nintendo. My wallet shall be all the happier.
Think about this...
what if:
Ps3 had improved and more powerful Ps2 CPU & GPU & 1Gb of standard RAM & HDMI. It would have been at least 3 times better if not more than the Ps2. It would have been 100% BC and releasde before the xbox 360. Developers would have had no trouble programming for it as it would been based on the same basic Ps2 architecture. And it should have sold for less than $300.
But instead we got:
Ps3 has radica...
It definitely will be Nintendo on Sony's mind.
Initially it would have been Microsoft concerning Sony with their year head start, lost exclusives and developers familiarity for programming for PCs/xbox rather than the new cell. But now the trend is moving in the Ps3's favour for nextgen gaming.
Even if Microsoft brings out an 720 early, Sony could relatively easily release a Ps3.5(more ram, better Cell, better GPU) which would match the 720 and be cheaper.
<...
C'mon Sony. This is the obvious way to go instead of forking out mega bucks on developing new technology.
Sony has already invested millions on the cell processor & BR. If they ever want to recoup their investment they just have to (K)eep (I)t (S)imple (S)ony....KISS
A Ps4 with just an improved CELL & GPU and significantly more RAM(2+ Gbs) would perform a lot better than the current Ps3 and would only be a little more expensive - NO MAJOR R&D costs.
...
But 1 Gig Ram is just not enough especially for the various uses of the ps3/ps4.
The multi-cell is the way to go. If the typical cell becomes dirt cheap, all sony has to do primarily build a improved mother board with faster system bus and able to handle more ram and of course an improved GPU.
This way Sony doesn't have to spend alot in development of the Ps4. This also means the Ps4 would be alot cheaper on release than the ps3....and alot powerful.
T...
...is why the Wii is cleaning up at the moment.
The next gens price will drop and they are likely to develop their own version of the wii-mote/chucks. But many Wii owners will likely also buy the next-gen consoles when they are cheap enough.
The question is whether they will buy both or just one...and if one, which one?
And Nin will have built a fan based for the Wii 2 which will highly likely be a HD console with HDD - nothing revolutionary allowing it ...
...and Sony knows Nariko is a major character now - hence the sack girl - as well as a worthwhile new IP, so likely Heavenly Sword 2 will come.
Now the question is which of Sony's great studios will make it. Damn, wouldn't it be ironic if SCE Santa Monica studio made it? They did make GoW afterall.
hehehe.
how could you underestimate Sucker Punch.
Sly Cooper series clearly shows the class of the developer - just a new genre for them.
btw: would love a next gen Sly game please.
adds whole new dimension to gameplay....empowering everybody in the game.
And it's a laugh watching players line up to get a pack....except those aholes who jump the cue.
Seeing that Bioshock x360 was on a standard DVD then WTF.
Of course Bluray isn't going to make too much difference.
All the more reason for an expansion pack that offers Bots and dedicated unranked beginner servers.
Plus you can practice with a mate offline as well as in an unranked game. you aren't going to get better doing nothing.....and to get good at warhawk is an achievement.
First week or so the online games are going to be full of the pesky critters.
Oh man. I'm not looking forward to that. What was that? I'm sure I heard something.
Well, if you can't beat them then join them.
It's about time we hear news on Warhawk 2
@bubbles
just buy a debit card that functions also as a credit card.
IMO they are better than c/cd as you can remain anonymous online and you only spend what you have.
North America is still a strong hold for the x360.
It is the last major region that needs to won for the Ps3
So you price and package accordingly to get buyers to pick the Playstation over the xbox. Eventually it will be priced for buyers to pick it over the Wii but unlikely for another couple of years.
One step at a time.
Also, alot of brand loyal gamers, plus higher per capita income means the European loose out. But nobody's forcing Eu...
First a foremost: the Ps3 is still too expensive for the casual gamer - yet the ps3 is still selling better than the cheaper x360
Secondly: millions of Ps2 owners and fans are still waiting for a cheaper Ps3 - there's going to be a flood of new Ps3 owners when it is the same price as the Wii.
Thirdly: sequels to a multitude of proven AAA titles on the Ps2 coming to the Ps3
Fourthly: sequels to new Ps3 IPs coming and all of them better than the original...
$50 Ds3 is full price including battery, r/l buttons, two analogs. Of course it won't be translated to $50 extra to add to the PsP but will be less. Likewise the price of reciever will be less than $50. It'll be unlikely the extra cost will reach $100 at all - more like $50 in total.
Also, here in NZ psp sell for NZ$300. That's about US$160. So that's a US$210 PSP2. But this is all guessing for something that doesn't exist. But there's no way in hell a PsP2 would be selling for ...
