i just hope we see more improvements within the PS3's OS. So far the we've been seeing how the PSN and the Console itself has been evolving thus far, and its pretty great. I want to see them bring in cross-game invites and in game voice messaging and of course bring full PSN integration within the official PS3 website along with brand spanking new gamercards which would allow us to see the trophies that people have collected thus far, not to mention make them automated.

thats not necessarily true. Take an old school Sony TV for example (circa 1991) yes its old, but that TV which i have in my Basement right now is still alive and it shows perfect picture quality for a SDTV. Its all about the quality and engineering of the system. if the system is poor quality, then it will break at some point.
the fact that they are excited to build on their next engine based on the specs of the next Playstation(aka PS4) shows that they are doing something on the PS3 that got them so excited.
