In regards to this article. It's obvious that the 3 arms was for if you were using the D pad or the joystick. It's not like the extra one ever got in the way.

The Wii isn't a real console though. PS Moves pinpoint accuracy makes the Wii look like a cheap toy.. motion controls was the only thing the Wii had going for it.
