No one is hyping it up as a mega big exclusive AAA game. Even the price of this game reflects that. People are just happy to get more games to play.

People are not entitled to anything man. You bought a game knowingly that you can only play it on one particular console. If you want a new version of the game then buy it, Nintendo doesn’t owe you anything.
And by using your logic, doesn’t that mean every games ever remastered or re-released should be free to all existing owner?

Some games in that list are not releasing this year, such as The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding.
And not to knock on any of those games, but can you honestly say you are looking forward to most games on that list the same way you do with games like God Of War? Quantity doesn’t always mean quality.

We’ll see soon enough, but either way I will get to play this game through my Xbox Gamepass.

There are hundred of games on Xbox. If you don’t count multiplatform, then even your god mighty PS4 has only a couple of games each year.
It already has, judging from the sale of Splatoon 2. However, it is sharing the spotlight with Mario. Now, bring on a single player only Splatoon rpg game, Nintendo.

What you fail to understand is the Xbox isn’t exclusively sold in the US you know. You can buy at almost every part of the world. So MS doesn’t need to cater to just one particular audience.
