comparing that statement from pete hines is a bit misleading. hines just says that 'we're still Bethesda' and that those games will continued to be published by them. the bungie statement says 'no' to the question of whether their future titles will become playstation exclusives.

i kind of get why they're doing it, but tbh i dont know why there isnt an option for just straight-up offline play, with that character strictly for offline play only.
