These types of stories are nothing more than "Industry Rhetoric" to turn people against second hand sales, its about opinion changing & getting you to accept anti-consumer licencing that blocks you from resale but its more than resale what the industry wants to stop is you swapping and trading with your friends.

that's why you get a .exe fix that bypasses the restrictive Orwellian DRM or create an iso so you can play your games anywhere without the disc + don't you have to be connected to the net to use steam titles?
most people i know lend their games between each other, especially the the ones that are completed in a couple of days that are not worth the extortionate £40+ price tag, licensing is not just about selling, its to stop lending & trading!

sony are only supporting UMD for now they will switch to anti-consumer licensing as soon as possible as then sony block all second hand game sales generating millions from people that use to swap games with their school friends.

i agree that titles are usually much better & cheaper on the PC but will disagree with you about steam.
steam destroys your right to re-sell, trade, lend to a friend or even give away for free tittles you legally purchase.
get a retail box that has value not a digital copy that takes away your rights.
btw this is not operation flashpoit, codemasters brought the rights & they have dumbed the game down from the once great title for the console gene...

Other than Sony & Microsoft who actually gives a dam other than all the company stooges/bloggers that trawl these game sites & the companies that hire them.
What really matters is that both consoles have reached an install base where game devs will continue to support both units.
