Yup, when the target is far away that can save a lot of time indeed.
You can completely respec / reallocate your attribute points.
So if you have a melee build with points invested in strength and health you could, for example, reset them and put everything in attunement and intelligence to turn him into a sorcerer build.

Yes, works with day 1 patch on XB1/PS4.
There are 125 Brutalities (5 per character, 25 characters if you count Goro who is DLC).
And there are another 25 Faction Fatalities! 5 factions, 5 fatalities per faction.
It's crazy how many unique ways there are to kill someone in this game. Plus the X-Ray attacks.
