Now, if only it was on PS4 I could start giving a damn.
@tool316 If you had 'grown up' you wouldn't be typing sentences like that to start with?
I too have a fast PC (GTX780 i7@4.5k 16GB ram) and I prefer mouse/kbd for FPS any day. That has nothing to do with THIS topic though! I also use an Xbox 360 wireless controller on my PC occasionally (for driving games etc) and it's fine, no problems. However, while I can work with either style the PS3 stick layout just 'feels' better to me.
Actually the 360 put the stick in the prominent position to hide it's god awful D-Pad :P
This is ridiculous, both ways work but I prefer symmetrical like Playstation. It was fine in 1997 and it still is. Moving it up was just a gimmick/differentiator not some magic cure for a problem that didn't even exist.
All this talk of pushing up on the left stick? And when you push up (as you often do and there it remains) your thumb is then in it's natural...
I'm getting a PS4 day one but BF4 will firmly be on my GTX780'd PC!
Actually they failed us by (so far) not releasing HL2 EP3 or HL3. 6 Years? and counting...
@gaelic_laoch Have you actually used Move? It's probably the best of all the current motion devices. It is not crap in the slightest, only the software is currently lacking.
It's much better to have something physical in your hand for these things with force feedback and proper buttons. Kinect is stupid.
GTAIV gave me a better sense of reality, that I could go inside more places, structures etc. V is pretty but very fake. Even the IV's fairground area had more atmosphere than the super slick pier in V - empty, devoid, glossy.. no balls. IV was great environmentally.
I find I don't care about the characters at all in V! Problem! So even if it has more events I find they bore me more as I feel i'm just tagging along for the ride rather than 'living' the gam...
i prefered IV to V. V is lacking something tangible. Feels more like a facade even if it's prettier.
After you get Trevor it goes down hill for some hours, it's horrible AND boring playing him - like pew pew central. The game started promising with Franklin and Michael. I wish they had left trevor out and just had 2 characters and ramped up what THEY could do. It's all token gestures and really silly additional stuff (yoga? tennis? fun for about 3 seconds!).
@KazHiraiFTW true the fan can go crazy at times, but you never heard of headphones? I game in (good) headphones most of the time even if no neighbours - more immersive and can't even hear a fan!
if you are using "realism" mods and are trying to make a game look photorealistic, then believe me a smooth 60fps would be awesome in helping achieve that feel. We don't just watch games like films, we have input and lag, real time physics etc... 60fps will always feel and sometimes look better than 30fps in gaming with everything else being equal.
My GTX780 is ok with this stuff :) - though I doubt at 4K.
Actually I think GTA V while obviously looking better than GTA IV (on the consoles) has a more anonymous feel to it than LC in GTA IV. I miss the atmosphere of IV and the lived in look. GTA V somehow feels more fake, as an environment, it feels more like any other game. GTA IV seemed to have more nuances in art direction and world design. Therefore I conclude that while V is very pretty (even on consoles) it loses out against LC for sheer atmospheric setting. IV seems to be denser, and for me...
soultecc you're an Asshole with a capital 'A'
Well, a great game it most likely is, sadly it's not performing well on either of my 2 PS3s so it's gonna get sold on ebay and I'll wait for PC/PS4 versions if any. Same thing I had to do with GTA IV so should have known.
The videos and Bullshots R* have been posting didn't exactly help, going from those to this jaggy sub 20fps nausea inducing thing is hardly 'fun' - sure you can battle through that but it just shouldn't be that way, not for such a...
Why do I need footage of people playing it? It's completely different watching someone else playing it as YOUR brain doesn't have the lag between controller input and visual update. I thought it looked ok in videos too but hands on with a controller? no. And I'm not talking occasional slowdown, but constant slowdown - panning the camera around skips massive chunks to try to reach 30fps which in itself is just as bad as a low frame rate. overall it feels very jittery. And it's ...
Sadly it's not cutting it for me on current gen, I played it last night (PS3 version).
The game has massive vision but the tech isn't there, just like I said some months ago and was downvoted. Frame Rates are appalling, enough to affect gameplay and give you a headache. Aliasing is just as bad as GTA IV on PS3 was, and it is also obviously upscaled again too. I accept all these faults on this aging hardware but I don't accept Rockstar pulling one over potential cu...
the point is pretty much all motion gaming, be it camera or wiimote waving has proven to be mostly short lived, un fun, gimmicks - even when incorporated into otherwise 'core' games. It actually works better in those games if the developers feel a love for the cam/motion usage. If the camera is there by default you'll find the equivalent of wii shovelware but using kinect instead.
ALSO it will possibly encourage many core games to tack on needless camera gimmicks ...
Sony did this stuff with PS-Eye way before Kinect!! They were doing this stuff on PS3 in the early years, at least 3 years before Kinect was even released!
And they even did it on the PS2 in a more limited fashion.
As for kinect spying vs this OPTIONAL and DISCONNECTABLE camera that NEVER phones home, totally different things. Sony are not using the camera to profile you and target adverts at you, and that's the least of the nefarious reasons behind Kinec...
@JohnnyBadfinger Must be strange being so wrong about so many things? Should change your name to JohnnyBadopinion :)
Shove it!
Nice to see Martin Short getting voice over work.
