It's not that the people here are more hardcore. It's just some people like to move on with the times early than others. Gamers are more tech savy than non gamers on average. Especially pc gamers. I want new console to come out because I've been having a 360 since early 2006. And 2012 would be a good time to upgrade to a new console. Hopefully with state of the art technology in the box, and some good new ips.
Most console gamers are teens? Most of the console gamers I know are grown ass men. The average gamer age is 34. Trust me when your grown you have money to throw on a console every six years, because you have a job. Spending $400 on a console every six years isn't alot of money when you work for a living. The problem is the cost of the games. You can still get around that by waiting a few weeks or months and getting the game cheaper.
BTW why do people want the next gen to...
It would've been nice if they went with a quad core processor and at least a 5770 with 2 gigs of ram. That way they would've had dx11 and 1080p 60fps with a $300 price tag. By the end of 2012 a 5770 should be cheap as far as manufacturing costs. Hell there will be 8000 series graphics cards by the end of 2012.
As an X360 owner. I hope MS launch a new state of the art console for 2012/13. I've had a 360 since release and to me it's time to move on with next gen. I'm not interested in kinect or any other gimmick. Just a new console with the latest technology in graphics and gameplay. And I'm good.
What do people mean when they say keep supporting the console when a new one releases? Are they saying keep making exclusive games for it? Or are they saying they should keep manufacturing the console? I personally rather console manufactures when they release new console to dedicate there limited resources to the new consoles. Example if MS releases the xbox 720 in 2012 then they should make the next halo for the new console instead of the 360 so it wouldn't be limited by the 360 hardwar...
Since when did having better graphics become a bad thing. I've been gaming since the nes first came out. Most games gameplay hasn't changed since dreamcast and ps2. I know everyone wants innovation in games, but maybe gaming has gotten like the movie industry. Where most ideals have already been implemented. I believe that's where we are at. And i believe better graphics can help. Just like better special effects help the movie industry.
PC gaming isn't going to see huge jumps until next gen consoles comes out. You have to remember that AAA games can cost anywhere from 30m-100m dollars. That amount of money isn't justified for a pc only game. The technology is there for next gen consoles. I think MS and Sony are just waiting for silicon prices to drop. So they can get the most bang for the buck.
I do understand why some people here don't want the next gen consoles to come. If the PS4/X720 both come out in 2013 the major third party publishers are going to move on to the next gen consoles for all there major releases. So if you don't upgrade when they release those consoles you won't be able to play those AAA release games. The reason why I say this is when the PS3 was release almost every third party publisher moved on to next gen. There were games release for the xbox an...
As long as the Xbox 720/PS4 comes out with state of the art technology at release. We are going to be golden. That's all I ask for. Just for the consoles to be state of the art at release.
I agree there are a little high for 2013/14 release. But you have to remember consoles life span is going to be 7-10yrs before a new release. So if next-gen comes out in 2013 at the earliest. By 2020 those specs would be laughable. PC gamers by 2020 would have far more advanced hardware than what I just mention. So I feel it's better for console manufactures to put out the best and latest hardware technology at release. So they won't be as far behind as if they did if they went with ...
I agree with you about cost considerations, but one thing you forgot is that consoles. The 360 and ps3 were state of the art at release. So the nex-gen consoles won't be dx10. They'll be DX11 or DX12. Also they will include more than a dual core cpu. That's way to dated for a system with a 2013-14 release date. In order for a next-gen console to last 7-10 year it would at least have to have these specs.

I got the 360 version of BFBC2, and that game has no AA, pop ins, low resolution textures, no HDR lighting, low poly count foliage, trees, vehicles, etc in multiplayer. The only thing graphically better about BC2 is the destructible enviroments.
The game is not that bad. I think everyone expectations was a little to high including myself. After seeing all those modded crysis screen shots and gameplay on youtube I think alot of us got too excited. I just went back and played alot of my multiplat games like call of dutys bfbc2 reach halo 3 etc. And crysis 2 multiplayer grapics is better than those games graphic in multiplayer. We all just need to sit back and wait for the reviews to come in.
Dude you really need to check out game prices online. I've rarely ever had to pay full price for a new release game on release date. Most games since last year you could find $20 off on release. This is standard practice at Amazon. Go to cheapassgamer.com and you will be amazed at the deals you find before release date on high profile games.
It'll be under $40 within a few weeks. Just like every other high profile game. There's really no since in buying a game for $60. When within a few weeks the price drops to $40 or below within a month.
These are the games that had a $20.00 credit before release date at amazon with free shipping. Halo Reach, Black OPS, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Gears of War 3, etc. This is nothing new with amazaon. You can get new releases $20 off before and with a few weeks of release date.
Are you guys watching this in 1080p? Cause you can clearly see pc version is the best. More shadows ,better resolution, accurate colors, better everything for the most part. Wish I had a pc so I can run this game on my 46" samsung tv. To me looking at this video. I can't really see what everyone crying about the 360 version looking vastly superior to the ps3 version. They look about the same. Only difference I see is the resolution between the console versions and the 360 black level...
Since when did a game's multiplayer graphics ever make anyone jaw drop. Every game I have played the game's single player graphic's has always been better. The multi player graphic has always been a step or two backwards in graphical fidelity. If your going to judge a game base of graphics alone you always compare single player graphics. That's where your going to see what a developer can do with there engine.
Just increase the brightness (black level) on your tv. The 36O version black level isn't accurate (calibrated right) it's not supposed to be that dark. Just look at the gun in some of those pics. The black level is drowning out shadow detail and environment detail. That's not how the game suppose to look.
What i want in a next gen console is.
6-8 cores (12-16 threads)
AMD HD 7970/ GTX 680 (1080p/60fps)
4-8 GB GDDR5/6 (large open worlds, high quality shaders, etc)
12X Blu-ray Drive (movies/games)
$400 2012/13
