Steam for example offers automatic updates to all games. Nvidia for example has auto updates for video card drivers.

My PC is hooked up to my entire entertainment system. It's a high end multi-media centre and plays games. It performs functions that consoles simply cannot do at this time.

Why do they continue to do these "comparisons" when almost every single one of them look the same more or less.
These consoles are very similar in power output that you are not going to see huge differences in games across the board like we see with games on the Wii compared to the PS3 and Xbox360.

Sony is using advertising techniques from the 1970's and 1980's when they were a full force to reckon with.
30+ years later they are still following the same guidelines and techniques from that era.
They need to move with the times.
Keeping this type of marketing tradition is killing Sony at the bottom line.
"Sony. The One and Only" use to be their moniker and all Sony had to do was flash this and you immediately knew Sony=Quality ...
You know since the PS1 and PS2, Sony made most of its profits from 3rd party developers. You know this right?
MS also has 14-15 game development studios and Sony I think has 16 or 17. Not much of a difference.
The good thing for Sony is they use those studios more on core games. MS not so much.
Now at this point the only thing the PS3 does that the Xbox360 does not is Blu-Ray.
Other than that, tell us what other MAJOR gaming feature the PS3 ...

(there is no console game out that is rendering that amount of detail and objects on the screen in that fidelity period)
Arkham City (DX11 on the PC looks better than Uncharted 3 with Nvidia'...
And they will charge more for that console than any other system out if Apple ever decides to enter this market.
Apple's business model is to have high margins on all its hardware.
So I say good luck to them.
Blu Ray does not improve graphics. If this were true then why is it a game like Crysis, Metro 2033, Witcher 2 and many others on DVD-9 for the PC installed on the HDD looks better than any PS3 game?
And some of those games are less than 8g fully installed.
Blu Ray like DVD-9 is just a storage medium. Do not confuse it with GPU, CPU, Bandwidth and memory power for graphics...
Apple's console would cost 3x the amount as the PS4 and Xbox720 and WiiU and have low end parts inside and tell the iSheep crowd it is cutting edge technology.
How else will Apple keep up its high margins?
The game will not support SLI/Crossfire out of the gate. If it ever will.
Moreover considering that the game is not supporting DX11 at all, the game should run on mid range to lower end GPU's fine...
But don't expect mind blowing visuals like BF3, Witcher 2, Metro 2033 etc.

Pretty much what you said I agree with fully. I just kept it simple with my response and summed it up with "better graphics" ;-)
The truth is, "Next Generation" is already here for PC gamers depending on your setup.
What you currently see now on mid to high end PC rigs, is what gamers will be experiencing with these "Next Gen" consoles in the next 2+ years.
