the only difference here is that microsoft acquire studios that doesn't have an history with them, so the ps4/switch gamers that loved, example, ninja theory games, are rightfully annoied by it, because a studio that was always multiplatform now will do only mivcrosoft games.
sony, on the other hand, will buy a studio that ahs history with them, studios that are recognizable with the PS brand already and being acquired by sony is just "fitting", like housemarque, bluepo...

well, the real reason is that FF8 is sadly underrated, expecially in america, so SE didn't see a remunerative return by remastering it...
a stupid thought by them, being FF8 one of the best FF game ever made and very appreciated all around the globe (mostly), i'm glad SE finally understand it :)

the legend of dragoon could be awesome, i never played the original (i'll play it with the bleemsynced playstation classic sooner or later ahah), also ape escape will see a remake and that's pretty neat.
but speaking of playstation franchises that deserve a new chance on the current/next gen, i agree with syphon filter, and i add tomba (he so deserve it), bugs bunny lost in time and legacy of kain soul reaver.
square enix should revive/remake some games too from that...
