Reading that definitely made me feel a little dirty. Well done, sir.

I've already watched Yahtzee's review on ZeroPunctuation, so I'm definitely excited.

He's one of the mascot characters that followed the breakout popularity of Sonic in the 16bit days. Aero, the Rocket Knight, Bubsy, etc. Regardless of the character, I think it's an interesting look into that area of game development.

That problem seems endemic to the other retro consoles as well.

Definitely can't wait to see this one.

That's not untrue, but selecting their spells and which items they equip is hardly "character development." I'd agree with that to some degree in a game like Deus Ex, because the myriad options make your minute to minute actions matter.

I'll put it this way. Yakuza 3 has been one of my favorite games of 2010. I like Japanese games of this variety when they're well-crafted and have interesting characters. But I don't feel like I'm playing the role of Kazuma - I'm not making decisions for him. I'm steering him around. He's just an awesome character to steer around.

You're too hung up on mechanics. It's not turn-based combat and inventory management that make a role-playing game. It's *role-playing.*

No one is questioning the quality of those games. They're fun games. Skies of Arcadia was some of the best time I spent with my Dreamcast (except for finding that hidden city...). But I wasn't doing a lick of roleplaying. I was just carting Vyse and crew around to each story point.

I never thought I'd say I have high hopes for Two Worlds, but the buzz is really positive and it'd be awesome if it stayed that way.

The visual style is definitely intriguing. And I like the word chainsaw.

The 3 move controllers price doesn't account for the 3 sub controllers that would be required - or the other move controller that would be required for a two-player game that requires to bulbs per person (the fighting game, for example).

One gamer on a move will cost $80, while 3 could cost as much as $240 (or even $300), just in controllers.

I definitely want to check out this game. After I get tired of Monkey Island and Puzzle Quest 2.

I think that's the most important part of the piece. if execs used purely sales to decide which games to greenlight, we'd be playing a bunch of terrible Wii shovelware, Imagine Babyz, and crappy licensed games. Or something.

I think the best takeaway in that case is that if you're looking to pick up an arcade stick to get into all the great 2D fighters and old school games, the MadCatz sticks are the way to go right now.

Game of the year? no. Surprise of the year? Just maybe.

I bought it on a whim after reading reviews. It's a weird game that comes out to more the sum of its parts. I had a lot of fun playing it. Considering how much shit I was talking about it in the first hour, I'm genuinely surprised at how much I ended up liking it. (What do you think, Zack?)

I can't wait to see what comes out of EA's booth this year. Wondering if that Multiplayer job posting will factor into their e3 mass effect 3 showing at all.
