I hope they render stunning magic attacks. I always thought FF9 had the best spell animations and I think we all this new technology, they can really make some "wow" moments during battles with all the spells.
Anyway, I think this game looks spectacular. The CG movie scenes are absolutely stunning, but I get worried with Square's heavy use of CG. I rather they make the cut scenes utilizing the game's real-time graphics, then pre-rendered CGI - for continuity...

I recently bought the MOVE too and it works so well, but I'm not really a motion-based gaming guy (yet) so I don't really have any interest in it. I think I will purchase Beat Sketcher later and play around with that.

I prefer Naughty Dog to actually go over the top. It would make the game less believable obviously, but that's not the point. I mean, the character portrayal is very realistic - why does the rest of the game have to be? But development still has a long way to go, so I'm hoping there will be events that are just batshit crazy

I think it's inevitable that all shooters will have that post-apocalyptic or prelapsarian look. I mean, if it was in any other situation, it would less believable (in the sense of accepting the virtual reality presented) and probably not as interesting. Call of Duty is an exception however. It's kind of hard imagining any other environment for a shooter.
