It's an interesting year for Activision - I think the CoD series is in a kind of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' place, and I'm intrigued to see the reception to this soft reboot
Yeah, played it at a pre-E3 briefing. Thoughts are explained deeper in the article, but I'm hugely into it - a clear refocus on gameplay, moving away from the dodgy TV/game hybrid that you saw in Quantum Break.
By focusing more on character and player-driven narrative, the story feels cleaner, tighter and tenser - pair that with some really fun, superhero-inspired gameplay and you've got yourselves a game that (I think!) could be 'game of the gen' worthy.
Have you read much of the DailyStar Gaming output lately? Very different to the rest of the site, and the staff pride themselves on their games coverage and interview-lead feature content - happy to point you in the direction of their best pieces if you're interested :)
From the article:
"Main character Jesse undulates between intense and vulnerable as her past trauma reveals itself in intriguing bytes, and the supporting cast of strangers all have something about them that’s so unsettling that you feel like you don’t just want to figure out their motivations, you need to."
"Between his casual way of talking, his slipping between Finnish and English, and is written like the friendliest uncle in your family...
Definitely worth a play - impressive gunplay, even if they screwed the MP up from the first game
Activision is barely out the door...
Yes, AFAIK there will be a boxed release
I appreciate why you say this but I'd urge you to look at some of the output we do from the gaming side - incredibly proud of the features we produce, the new voices we champion in games writing and the way we've made the Gaming section stand on its own.
Thanks!
Only another week or so!
That's correct - there are 'waypoints' you can travel to, then in firefights, you can strafe between predetermined spots to better sniff out enemies or avoid incoming fire.
the release version (or close to it!) is very good!
I honestly don't think I've played a better shooting game, or seen better production quality, anywhere in the VR space!
Have you played the game, and have you then played it since the patch?
It has massively reduced the grind and the MT issue is more or less moot because the Towers that unlock skins are now doable for players of any skill
That's why people are re-evaluating the game now, because it's different and NR listened. The devs can't catch a break!
Absolutely yes: World of Light is a pretty expansive thing, littered with fanservice and cameos. Obv the main draw of Smash is the multi, but WoL does a great job of single-player fighting game cotent, too
I think when there's a game-altering patch that comes out, it's fair to re-examine the product. Especially if the original review focused massively on what's changed a few days into release (Daily Star's review was very much focused on the grind).
If the rumours are true about MK11 having 19 DLC characters, I bet it's got some life in it yet!
I agree, I think MK is great but I always preferred CTR growing up and I'm really excited to see what Acti is doing with the remake after how decent Crash N Sane was!
Pleasantly surprised by Team Sonic Racing so far - let's hope the final product is as good as this looks!
Lol, yes I meant Sega. Sony on the mind!
I have faith that Sony can deliver 2x good Sonic games in a row - Sonic Mania and this paints a bright future! (just ignore the film)
I think even the fact that they've got a level based on the terror attacks at London Bridge shows they're trying to do something wildly different. Hard to get that tone right, though...
