It's absurd to say that the new game doesn't feel like a DOOM game. What needs to be different? 1993 graphics? A centered weapon view? I agree that it feels like playing Painkiller, but Painkiller was a throwback to Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM and Duke Nukem era First Person Shooters and thus felt old school in its gameplay. With the current arguments being thrown around, it almost seems as if the game has to be outdated in all of its design mechanics to be perceived as a real DOOM game.
