In reality he's trying to take away the thunder from 3D presentation because they may not be able to pull it off with Natal. "Lets just focus on Natal" is what he wants everyone to think about. Also if it's not that important, it begs the question why M$ also put on a few titles in 3D at their show. Typical M$ "look its 3D on a 360... but you wont get it soon, we just couldn't have everyone else here show something and have us with nothing"
M$ is not hitting it out the ballpark on game system revenues yet. They are a software company and they are trying to build a full service suit of products for consumers when they are away from the CPU. Yes they have a plan... but its about gaining market share and exposure to position new products down the line.
