Half Life 2 was the most deserving.
Have played every big title on almost all platforms and a bunch of indies for the past 12 or so years and HL2 still has that special spot on my hard drive

Firstly the Director would have to make it to the style of the games which will ruin his/her own style.
If the Director makes it their own way then fans will tear it apart.
Also HL is solid as a game, as a movie hmm not too sure of how it would work out showing Gordon Freeman when here he is a silent character who we barely ever get a glimpse of. There is a certain narrative technique going on with the game...
