Seems contradictory with their previous statement. Looks like they just want to do every way possible even if it clashes with a console focus strategy.
Microsoft is very committed in taking on Sony. They cannot stand how a multi-billion company with infinite resources cannot take or even compete at the same level as Sony on gaming so they are "all in on gaming" just to take on Sony.
They don't care if they have to buy every publisher or developer out there they just can't deal with their broken ego.
I have heard this from Xbox before and at the end, they fail to deliver. Also, a first party game doesn't mean a triple A game. It could be a anything not necessarily what people are expecting.

Knowing how greedy EA is, if this game is on gamepass, I'm pretty sure Microsoft had to pay EA a very lot of money.

Can't help to notice that this is just words and words based on their story. With these statements, they hurt the brand more than doing any good.
