Ubisoft's smaller studios do have a reason to worry (the guys working with UbiArt Framework titles for example), but the rest... it's not like Ubisoft wasn't a giant corporate overlord to begin with.
They're changing one shitting annualizing money squeezing over lord for another shitting annualizing money squeezing overlord. Ubisoft's tears are crocodile tears.
I just hope the good people in there manage to find a better place to land,...
And not a single tear was shed for Ubisoft.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step towards fixing it.
People got used to ads I guess
The review misses the point. DOAX series are not games played by their mechanics, the gameplay itself is not the point.
So, all still going according to Iwata's plan. 2016 will be the year to reveal the NX to the masses and the NX won't replace the Wii U or 3DS, exactly like he said.
They said the NX wouldn't replace the Wii U or 3DS... judging from this move, if true, that's not the case anymore.
My point is that, if VR brings the "death" (death in a sense of popularity, true death never occurs) to "traditional gaming" (fixed screen perspective), then it's not really diverse for as much as it opened many new ventures for ideas, it effectively closed many ones as well. It will only bring true artistic freedom if it's satisfied on co-existing with other modes of gaming (non-VR), something which the sentence "VR is the future of gaming" doesn't r...
That's what I hope as well. VR does indeed have many possibilities, many concepts that can only happen in VR, it will certainly bring more freedom to artists in general. As long it's not the only available option. It would be akin to an art critic saying that only realistic depictions are "better art, because it's more immersive. All future paintings should replace square wooden frames for dome frames and paint in 360° as well"
The problem with the VR hype is not that technology is not good, it's that people excited about it are touting VR as the second coming of christ or something like that, completely ignoring the downsides this new medium can bring to the table should it truly become the "future of gaming".
VR can bring many new innovative ideas to life, that is true, but it can also enforce the death of many design ideas as well. VR will bring innovative concepts as well as new sh...
You clearly haven't heard about Tumblr and Twitter... On the wrong hands, this kind of information could spin to a lot of moaning and shaming on Microsoft. Sony sometimes gets the shaft for their booth babes and female employees.
As a Sony guy I have to admit, in this day and age this is pretty ballsy. Kudos to them.
Here is some thoughtful speculation:
1. The virtual button you see on the scree might have haptic feedback, meaning that even though they're just images displaying on the screen, you feel them differently at the tip of your fingers when you touch it. Steam controller has similar technology.
2. The analog sticks have a smarter version of force feedback, where the analog can react to things happening in the game, similar to the force feedback present in man...
Now I'm glad that Gran Turismo's damage system isn't too realistic. No risk of heart attacks.
This industry is filled with poor character stereotypes, regardless of gender.
He is right and wrong at the same time.
NX is some sort of handheld device, that's why he is saying is "backward looking technology", because, well a handheld does look awkward in this era of mobile gaming.
The NX however is no mere handheld. It's selling points are in its price range (much cheaper than smartphones while offering similar capabilities) and its versatility.
Versatility is key here. Instead of trying to compete...
Context is everything, you know...
As a brand Xbox is certainly not going anywhere. And Microsoft won't stop producing "first parties" either (by lending their original IPs to third party contractors).
But Xbox as traditional console? It's legacy as OG Xbox, X360 and XBOne? It will become history.
Applying a Fourier Transform to a cake recipe doesn't make any sense either. That's not the point, buddy.
Microsoft's own words could have weight if they had consumers trust, which apart from their own fanboys, it's not really the case.
Their past history shows that:
They have been trying to create a Walled Garden for a long time.
They have decades of Anti-trusts trials behind them.
And most i...
I would rather have in HDR. High frame rate always creates a soap opera effect, to me it's horrible unless you're playing competitively.
