also I am not a fanboy, I own every system and I am playing FFXIII on PS3 because I heard the 360 version had a gimped resolution and pixellated FMV's which I have confirmed from several 360 friends. I was happy to see this article because it is good to know that I was not alone with this problem.
I would have to completely power off the system. I rebooted it five or six times and played to that point and it kept doing it so I tried to delete some things off of the hard drive to free up some space but the only thing that worked was swapping the 40G fat out for my slim 120G and using my psp to move the save from one system to the other, which worked thankfully since I was about 10hrs in and did not want to start over.
as I have had this problem as well and if I didn't happen to have another ps3 I wouldn't have been able to finish the game
I was playing on a fat 40g and I could not get past a section in chapter 6 at all, I reloaded several times and it was not passable. I switched to my 120G slim and the problem went away. This is probably not an option for most people I am guessing and was incredibly frustrating. I think it might have something to do with the memory cache being full on the 40G but I did try deleting quite a few things and still had the problem.

lackluster story?? compared to what? bioshock has one of the most (if not the most) intriguing story line of any videogame I have every played and I have played almost all of them since the Atari 2600.

yes it is true I didn't invest too much of my life in it, why would I play a game on my 360 that has terrible graphics, god-awful voice acting, uninteresting story, and a slideshow frame rate. Believe me, I wanted to like this game and I have been looking forward to it for quite a while but it is unacceptable...like I said, you probably could power through and scrape some enjoyment out of it after awhile but why bother when you could be playing one of the other incredible 360 games that are ...
this game is broken, even if you can theoretically play through the first few hours of garbage and somehow you begin to accept it, you shouldn't have to do that for $65

I do not understand why anyone would play this game when there are so many amazing games out (bioshock for instance). Bioshock was sold out everywhere I live, when I went to pick up my preorder 3 people came in the store looking for it and were denied and they said they were looking everywhere for it, that guy has some issues.

I have this same issue on PS4 with large friend list. Game is unplayable. Even the menus lag.
