Who would have thought it, developing games to work on a single spec piece of hardware would result in more consistent performance than developing to allow for a ridiculously large range of component variations, and that's before users then install their machines full of crap software that steal resources and a hugely bloated OS that's ever changing.
Are you able to run split screen co-op on the game on a "lower end" device with 8gb of ram? Co-op seems to be the issue they bring up, (which is not really going to happen on steam deck anyway for obvious reasons) maybe the series S having half the ram of the steam deck is the restricting factor getting this feature to work properly.
Personally I stopped playing a few years ago after they removed the majority of the story content I had paid for and not yet finished, and told me I had to pay to play new seasonal content instead which made no sense as I had not got to that part of the story.
I've no interest in ever returning to a game that does that type of thing no matter how good it looks.
"Many "physical" games don't even contain the game.
Can you name just five?"
Modern Warfare 2
Halo Infinite (only part of the game is on the disc)
Umm i guess every single MMO
I can't name more.. but I suppose they do exist.
Makes sense. Microsoft need to know the most popular parts of games in order to inject those new ingame adverts for the new game pass tier. Got to optimize those ad revenue streams.....
The title should be tweeked a little, swap "At The Game Awards 2022" to "since the Xbox 360 era"
@CobraKai
Game and similar retail outlets are not powerless to do anything about it, they just choose not too as ensuring bots don't take them all requires time and effort. And these company's just don't care as long as they get their money.
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
Working on it since 1954 then huh. ;)
The Series S's worse specs causes a benifit that its using more widely available components.
But even then, both Xbox's combined have approx 6 million less units manufactured than PS5s. Its on the shelf more as the demand is less.
Always got to watch out for those "wring reasons"
And... "Final Fantasy XVI players continue to hope for official word..."
There are people playing FF XVI already??? This article is a complete mess from start to finish.
Sorry to tell you but even if you have physical media you don't technically own the game. The disc is just a licence agreement, and if you ever actually read them for Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or whoever... they will all say something along the lines of....
"bla bla bla..... Software is licensed to you, not sold."
Been playing since launch, tried both modes. Not had the shimmering problem at all, tried to recreate what others have done to make it show but nothing.. I do wonder if it's an issue with certain TVs. Prefer to play in performance mode as feels smoother and still looks pretty amazing.
I understand what you are saying. But I disagree, if you play like that then yes you would be making it terrible for yourself. I have young kids, I know that at any time may have to stop what I'm doing and drop the controller, I barely touch multiplayer games for this reason. In a single player experience I don't see the point in not having a pause to deal with real life things.
I would like to play this game.. But its off putting knowing that I wouldn't be able to play s...
The difficulty is not much of a concern for me. But the lack of ability to pause the game means I would very rarely be able to play it due to family life. That's a major failure in approachabilty they could do with fixing. (using ps5, I know there is a mod for pc, but even that really shouldn't be needed)
I can accept that some people may not like it and that reviews are by they're very nature subjective. But people tend to value opinions that closely match with their own.
I don't believe I'm in the minority in saying from what I have played so far this is a fantastic game which improves on what was a great original game. Trying to objectively find faults and I can come up with very little.
So thank you digitalspy for displaying your tastes in entertainment are fa...
I kinda understand this article. Everything about this game I would normally be interested in. Genre is something I would normally love, I like what FromSoftware do, a big fan of George R. R. Martin. I kinda want to force myself to be interested.. But I'm just a bit blasé towards it at the moment and can't even put my finger on why.
@Mr Pumblechook
Its actually option 3, they have not done those scores as a genuine fair review but as clickbait to get views and drive debate and publicity. (and it obviously works)
Very deserved. All my family is enjoying this game immensely. Even the wife who never really touches games.
But one thing. The description on this article is a bit broken "Hogwarts Legacy has crossed 267 million players." That's very wrong and should be "hours" like the title. Otherwise they have probably the biggest video game of all time on their hands within 2 weeks.
