That's exactly how it works actually.. It's only in dark zones too so if you don't want to take the risk of getting better loot then you aren't required to go in that zone. High risk but high reward, have your buddies with you
You just better trust who you play with is all. I think it's a cool feature and fits the story well.. It's about survival and people will do anything possible to survive. It's not like they aren't punished for it though. If they become a "rogue agent" then other people get more points for killing them

Sadly I've never played any of them and I've been a playstation user since ps1. I'm embarrassed to say that but I'll pick this up to prepare for the 4th

This rating is ridiculously low. Sure it doesn't appeal to everybody but that's why it's a good game. It's different and not the run of the mill everyday crap that comes out. The graphics are good. Physics are good. Everything has a purpose and a reason. It's all tied together. I'd give it at least a 7.5 - 8 out of 10.
Don't knock it until you've tried it. Everybody has different tastes, and diversity is good or life would be boring.
