Shipped, NOT sold. BIG difference. Expect the numbers that matter (ex: NDP) to be 10% behind.
I'm really finding this game in particular gets reviewed with a strong double standard. The game's faults are ridiculous. This review complains about the character's details, when in most video games, the characters don't even HAVE details! It's like complaining that the gold in only 14kt when everything else on the market is copper.
This incompetent reviewing HAS TO STOP. Review games at an equal footing. 10's according to many reviewers are games which are not perfect bu...
I don't really expect much from these books. GeOW had an awful story, as it was really just a shooter game.
The fact that the tutorial system was so bad he didn't even know he had talent points says a lot of negative things about the game too.
Also, his retraction was way too over the top.
I don't know if I'm more surprised that this guy was stalking a girl over XBL or that there are girls on XBL.
I don't understand everyone's obsession with pixel counts. The game looks amazing. Period. I couldn't care less what some arbitrary number is.
This looks like a GOTY candidante.
The National Enquirer of the games industry.
The new one isn't very good either, by western standards at least. Check reviews.
note that western standards aren't necessarily better or worse, but different in terms of taste and what is important to them.
The human eye will not be able to perceive the difference between 1080p and 2000p at any kind of reasonable viewing distance. There's no advantage to be gained. In fact, most people can't even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p sets of smaller sizes.
This industry is turning into a serious churn and burn industry, just like the operating system industry.
This preview seems to stand out as being down on the game. They have issue with the jazz music for the menus being to 'saccharine' (aka sweet). They think the entry-level races are 'too easy'. They're ENTRY LEVEL RACES!
It's like they ignored every good thing about this game, of which there are many, and nitpicked their way into a mediocre preview. It's shameful, and looks like they're judging GT to a higher standard. I've never seen a paragraph on menu music being slightl...
It's disappointing that this has happened. I really think that Sony needs to push these games outside of hardcore gaming circles where the money is.
The developers actually talk to the people who comment on the website, and they're really helpful. Plus, people actually make an impact. Why does Uncharted support 1080i? because people on the PS blog requested it!
Also, in today's death spiral of love-to-hate-ps3 news sites, it's nice to hear a pro-sony blog somewhere, even if it is a lone voice in the wilderness.
It's insane, reading some of these reviews. 'UT3 is an amazing game, with fantastic shooting, graphics and overall gameplay options. It's not that different from UT2K4, though, so I'm going to knock down the score a full point.' It's an obvious double standard when comparing the review trend to that of games like Halo 3. I'm still trying to figure out WHY there's a double standard. Marketing got to everyone, maybe?
What worries me is that people are going to see these low ...
If SO4 comes out in late 08 for the Ps3 I will be a happy guy. This is a really fun JRPG series.
The game is awesome (i was just playing it actually) but the story is awful. the cutscenes are painful to watch.
The combat is awesome, the customization of weapons is amusing, the special attacks are fun to pull off, and the world is fun to explore. I bought this game TWICE I loved it so much, but I can't say I liked it due to the story.
I agree on recommendation, though. Buy this game.
Famitsu has a history of scoring games on hype, so GTP MIGHT not be as good as they say. Personally, I think it is and I'll buy it day one. This game is a work of art, it's like a five star hotel, it's just classy.
Can't wait for the full GT5, that game'll be madness.
The Us is a field of copycat gore games, Japan is a sea of anime inspired or supercasual games, and Europe is the last bastion of creative game development. There are of course exceptions, but that seems to be the general trend. I'd argue Europe isn't that good either these days.
I really don't like the way gaming is going. As the gaming market broadens and the hardcore gamer population plummets along with increasing game dev costs, we begin to see a sea of generic semi-casu...
Stop hyping games when they're over a year away. My heart can't take it.
If I was in charge of PR for a company, I'd start hyping my game really hard about three months before release. I'd use triple the money for a third the time, and get my game on everyone's radar without having to keep it on there for over a year.
Look at how well FF XIII has done! By giving us almost no information, SE has driven the fanbase insane. It's called retromarketing, and I'd us...
This is almost so funny I'm afraid for my sanity. This irony is incredible.
