Actually Sony was aware that it wasn't necessary to spend money on marketing over the Nintendo Wii left overs. The Move isn't the PS3. It is just an optional add-on.
PS3 sales will keep rising, independent of Move success, because the PS3 potential is extremely huge.
In M$ case, Kinect have become the 360. M$ is putting everything into it, it's their last desperate attempt in getting anything else out of the 360.

When a product is new and extremely advertised b4 hand, it's easy to have a startup sales boom. (We are talking about 500 million dollars spent on marketing)
Once people come to their senses and realize there's simply no application and potential for a serious and decent gaming experience in Kinect, sales will go extremely down and finally remain stagnant.
Sales will already decrease in the next couple weeks.
Soon people that bought Kinec...
