I don't think FPS games are ruining gaming, but a lot of modern ones do represent a disparity between different types of gamers. For example, the sundry people who love Halo, and the many gamers who love to harp on it endlessly.

I agree with your remark about Steam. It kind of instills a sense of guilt in you when you know that you can acquire the game easily.
It was a little derivative at times, but I thought Alan Wake was one of the best games of 2010. That being said, I'm eager for more horror games. I have high hopes for Atlus's Catherine.
