You think?
Apparently, Gamekult gave it an 8 + selection, too.
http://n4g.com/news/872512/...
Ok it's an 8, but there is the small red icon on yhe mark telling it's in the 'selection' : Gamekult's reward for "games you absolutely need to play".
1) they never put 10. Or at least once, for zelda: ocarina of time.
2) On the minus side, it's Uncharted 2.5 -> meaning, it just does all better... but does not innovate in any way.
At the end of the day, I kinda like that way of seeing the game. 10/10? Naaah, doesn't exi...
French website.
If you read the article to the end, you'll get to discover that a famous brand of game resellers got the right to print codes for people who buy the game... used.
Now if anybody still cares to elaborate on why this peculiar merchandising practice is good for us game buyers, please do.
Still not buying it btw.
@Pro_TactX
I could not agree more with you. if WB/EA's "10 dollar plan" is the new way to make business in the industry, then so be it. Just don't count me in anymore to buy 3/4 games a month in the high season anymore.
Buying is voting on that issue, and I clearly take a stand I am not ashamed of.
@aGameDeveloper
To me,MP online pass is another issue altogether.
I TOTALLY realize that putting an online pass on the multiplayer...
@Pro_TactX
Yes, again I agree with you on that, used games are used games and if there is a scratch on the disc then so be it.
But locking away content from a non neglectable part of your consumer base is not a solution in the long run.
I for one will not buy Arkham city. It's my choice, there are plenty of great games this season, I'll even buy battlefield 3 with its online pass.
Though you are absolutely right on the manufacturer responsability toward the original customer, I think the bone of contention regarding the advertisement lies with those very customers : the ones who cannot access the internet and will not be able to benefit fully from their purchase.
As for the graphics judgement, I think they're some sort of anti-console players or whatever. They keep on stressing that they could not see the PC version and strongly resented it.
In fact, those guys are french bloggers which gained access to an official preview by Bethesda : Pete hines twitted that he was in europe last week.
For those of you who can read french, here is the whole source :

@Jihaad_cpt
Thanks for your advice and witty collaboration.
Thing is, even if it "cost them more money", game developpers+publishers still need to come up with a competitive product when competing in an already tight market.
If charging additionnal fees is the only answer found by any company to remain competitive, it is bound to fail at the corner.
Any pass of any kind is bad news for customers. This peculiar example shows how little consideration EA credits its clients...
Remember that this pass is a hindrance for people buying this game new. You do not get extra content, you just get back what was either taken from the game, or worse, blocked on the disc.
I am not buying this game at full price now for this reason only.
Nice article, but I am still totally against any pass of any kind.
If game publishers want their share on the used market, let them hire people, rent shops, and manage shops : ie provide the SERVICE you pay resellers to do for you when you sell back the product you do not want anymore.
Putting a lock on a portion of the product you buy is a hassle for you, the customer, it gives you nothing more. It's just a commodity for them.

Online Pass ?
Just a new move from Game publishers to get a hold on a market they did not care about beforehand.
The preown business helped the whole video game industry to rise, back then in the late 80's and the beginning of the 90's.
Now that the VG industry is the leading entertainment industry, Game publisher want their share of the preown business without too much of an effort.
They could be rightly making money there to...
Well sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
A video Game is a product. It can be sold back to someone else if you're no longer pleased with it.
Your favorite developpers have known that fact for the last 30 years. By no means is it something new to them.
In fact, they are just a link in the game industry process that delivers games every month.
No, the online pass is a new merchandizing strategy that tries to get money from the second hand business.
Before 2008
New game = 60€
Same title used = 45€
Entertainment : the same.
Technically, you could get 4 used games instead of 3 new games for roughly the same value.
Nowadays :
New game = 70€
Same title used = 58 to 65€ (sic)+ 10€ for full content
Verdict: sell your used games then go buy new ones at amazon for cheaper prices.
@snipes101 and xalaris
Off course nobody at Apple will bother to take into account the particular condolences posted here on N4G.
But many of us here, as members of a reading community, are expressing genuine feelings and want to show it where it counts, for us!
Steve Jobs is going to get many RIP comments from all over the world, in virtually billions of comments like those, some genuine, some not.
I think it's not something we&...
Still taking it day one.
Good article, and I agree with its author, who sums it up in one of the comments :
"(...) whether any company likes it or not, releasing a Beta to everyone is a marketing move. Gamers who play it will determine if they want to buy the full game because of it.
This is the main reason why the core game is never given over to gamers to beta test. Everyone would hate it."
Well, I read M.Comeau's article and it has some good points.
But I wonder why it is one-sided : the author explains how cheap or free casual gaming may hinder "hardcore" game industry, and totally ignores the reverse effect. True, not every world of tank player will go and buy a ps3/360/high-end pc to switch to Battlefield 3, but still the idea of "going hardcore" should be mentionned in order to complete his analysis.
I think the rise of browser-based ...
I totally agree with the author's point of view.
I'll add that scripted, forever coming back enemies is also another pain in the back.
For exemple, when rushing to enter the bank sideways, stay in front of it and kill any enemy shooting at you from the second level : they'll get replaced evrey 2 seconds ! You can wipe out an entire division, but no, those terrorists seem to possess the 'infinite troops' perk !
