People dont seem to get this.
No publisher is going to spend millions on an AAA game just to release it so you can play it for 10$ a month.
The math doesnt add up. If this was like titles that were 2+ years old (meaning almost zero new sales) or a game launched with lots of multiple micro transactions- then i get this. I think this might bite Microsoft in the foot.

What is the point of releasing a AAA game where a player can rent it for 10$\€? How as a Publisher would I see an incentive to this for profit unless i am piece mealing my game like hitman/tell tale games AND hosting the subscription service?
I am more concerned that other publishers follow suit and lock down “channels”.
You say its optional now, but when pubs start locking games behind a paywall, this is going to be a problem.
History is repeating itself, remember online game started for free on PS3 and Ps+ was “an option”. Now its mandatory to play online on PS4. Even nintendo is following suit.

Makes sense if the game is a MMO or like GTA online.

If they do they might at well as do Free to play and release day 1 mictotransactions.
How this affects you is how the gaming model will change in delivery! Something has to give, publishers arent charities for gamers. They have to have return on investment.
EA does older games like Playstation now. (No sense is spending millions on development to let people play the game for 30 days for 10$)
However what if other publishers follow this practice?

Ea game pass...
Ubisoft game pass...
2k game pass....
+ on top of paying for PSN/XBL

As a Consumer this is great for now.
As a publisher this is bad.
Think of what netflix did to blockbuster/hollywood video.
If this becomes the norm, IMHO - this will kill AAA single player games, especially ones less than 20hrs to beat. If a developer does decide to release a single player game, then they will have to deliver the game in “episodes” to recoup money (think like the last Hitman or like the walking dead).

2 things stuck out for me
1 Bumper cam speed looks great
2 Grass detail (instead of using just a green texture)
They still need to however add some basic animations to the bystanders. They still look look like cut outs.
Yi is correct whats the point of getting new maps when you only have a handfull of player to gank.
But if they released the maps for free- what would be the incentive to get the season pass for just get a handful of gadgets and guns.
I think more free loot boxes with customization options early unlocks might do it however. Rainbow six siege for example did it right but only 1 new map every few months is too little too late
