You have to take into account as to how liner rpgs have better character developmment and story, as the developers have greater control over the events.

xplay hates jrpg so much, yet they gave this a 4/5. Very fishy especially when most sites gave it a 5-6. I know review are opinions but this is very fishy indeed.
