Killzone 2 has more mature audience,as opposed to the halo series which has more 12 years kids. Since the kids don't have to take money out of their pockets when buying halo, it is only natural that halo 3 would sell more than killzone 2. I am not saying that 12 years old don't buy killzone2, but I think it's obvious that the halo series has a younger fanbase.
However, in terms of quality, based on what I have seen so far, killzone 2 has the upper edge.

Halo is a great game, but 2 and 3 is a little disappointing. And as I said before, killzone2 makes halo3 looks like a children game.
