To show that you are not bending over to anti-consumer marketing deals and you are willing to vote with your wallet if necessary? While PS4 users will have to pay 60$ at launch the game will be outdated and available for half the price on other platforms, I don't know about you but I don't enjoy getting screwed over by company executives. Seems like you completely missed my point as well.
I don't care about Tomb Raider at all, I care about the future of this industry. Timed exclusivity through marketing deals is bad no matter who's doing it, you simply missed my point.
From a business perspective it's certainly a good move but that's also what worries me the most. If these practices where a whole fanbase is being left out on purpose turn out to be more profitable than a normal launch publishers will make timed exclusive deals on a regular basis. In my opinion, PS4 users shouldn't pay the full price for the game unless it has enough extra content to justify it.
Yeah I hated Square Enix last year for various reasons but my sympathy for them is growing rapidly again. Let's hope they can repeat their glorious PS1 days and give us incredible JRPG's again.
Oh man Dragon Quest + Unreal Engine 4 developed by Level5 sounds like a wet dream, hopefully tge localization doesn't take long.
@christocolus
You're not completely wrong but I'm pretty sure the deals Sony had back then (and to this day, see SF5 or Shenmue funding) work a bit differently than the ones Microsoft used during the last 10 years, and they didn't even have half as much of them. Sony usually supports the developers in exchange for proper instead of timed exclusivity and many games wouldn't have been made if not for that. Microsoft however takes games in their late planning sta...
No, this practice simply should't exist, it's money used for marketing that could've been used for game development. This, of all things they've done, is probably the worst thing Microsoft brought to this industry.
Haha, no.
I'd define a "classic" by a game I'd still recommend even in 5 years. This generation that might be Bloodborne, Rocket League and maybe The Witcher 3 as well. I think that this year could add MGS5, Fallout 4, Persona 5 and Battlefront to that list but we'll see :)
This has gotten soo old.
It looks just as bad as Unity, this series has reached an alarming low point. Ubisoft should give it a 2-year break and come back with some fresh ideas.
Noone is overruling anyone's opinion, most just respond to the article's question. Comments like yours however don't add anything to the discussion.
This is mostly personal preference but I prefer the PS4 schedule currently.
Persona 5, No Man's Sky and Uncharted 4 are must-have's for me and Tomorrow Children, Disgaea 5, DragonQuest Heroes & Galak-Z look tempting as well. In between these exclusives I'll be very busy with Rocket League -> MGS5 -> Fallout 4 -> Battlefront 3 :D
Then there's hope for The Last Guardian, GT7 & Horizon in 2016 so the great games just keep on coming :)
I'd rather just call this exclusivity stupid, if they wanted to make an impact they should've bought Battlefront or MGS5. Not only is Tomb Raider a pretty generic game, they've also angered more people than they won over with this deal.
^Well you're infamouson N4G for having an agenda as well so TwoForce's reaction is actually understandable.
Yes, this might actually be the best smartphone game I've ever played. Very addictive and lots of fun, definitely worth a download.
While dancing... I guess.
Knack would be nice to have but seriously, they just gave out Rocket League which saved me 20 bucks and is one of the best PS4 games. There were some rough montgs but seriously, it's still too early to give out AAA PS4 titles every month.
You could just buy the game + season pass for less than 60$ and get everything.
I'd say it's too early to upgrade for gamers and non-gamers alike, I for one will wait a few weeks like with any other OS.
