I'm passing on BF3 because I don't have a proper gaming PC to play it.
After playing MGS4, I would really like to play MGS1. I remember having a PS1 back in the day, but besides games like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, I only had a demo disc and MGS1 was one of the featured demos.
I wish they could release MGS1 on Xbox Live as an arcade game, because getting it on PS3 isn't much of an option for me, seeing as I've lost what little interest I had in that system.
I'm planning on getting this for Xbox 360 after thoroughly enjoying MGS4.
I wonder if it's possible for MGS1 to be introduced to Xbox Live as an arcade game. Probably not (I really don't know), but if it was I would get it.
I wholeheartedly agree with your blog post, although mediocre only describes the negative aspects (IMO, the semi-awful gameplay) of Uncharted and not necessarily the series as a whole.
And speaking of mediocre, I guess it's good you left multiplayer out of the discussion.
After hearing about the console and PC differences of BF3, I would only get BF3 over MW3 if I had a capable PC.
So, I'm getting MW3 for now.
Perhaps the most vastly over scored game of 2011. This mediocre snooze-fest doesn't deserve half the recognition it gets.
And good for the few here who know that Killzone 2 is superior to 3, even if in the end they're both just another drop in the bucket.
I occasionally pass on getting a certain game if it has online achievements (or trophies). I am a big fan of Bioshock, but never considered getting Bioshock 2 for that reason.
I've had too many ruined online experiences because I can't resist attempting to unlock them, and in doing so I distract myself from enjoying the game.
As far as mainline console shooters go, Halo is a prime contender for best FPS, and there are most certainly others. But the Killzone and Resistance games are trash and deserve no mention beyond their mockery.
Personally, I thought this game was better than Killzone 3 (yeah, I know that's really not saying much).
Shame to see that the lesser game is given more praise.
No. 5 gets my vote. Glad to see it's the most liked, so far.
If I thought Uncharted 3 was going to be a good game, I'd be getting it day 1.
But that's not what I think. Can't wait for Gears 3.
I don't even need one reason.
I believe POS is already taken. Although, the 'O' is left out. Still, it is what is is.
From my experience, the Gears of War 3 beta looked better and played better. I do not see why anyone would [reasonably] question which one is superior.
As far as I can tell, Uncharted 3 multiplayer does not strive to be excellent or remarkable in any way. But, I guess that's appropriate.
No, Killzone 3 wasn't good.
If you want to see overrated, you should check out the user reviews for inFamous 2.
The beta was not what I expected. It was extremely unimpressive and had amusingly awkward controls, which is not an issue I remember from my previous experiences with the Uncharted games.
The only winning move is not to play.
Besides Uncharted, no other Sony IP belongs on that list, with the possible exception of LittleBigPlanet... but most likely not.
Definitely agree with the top 3 choices, but mostly Gears of War and Mass Effect. Interesting that they are all TPS, essentially.
Hilarious.
I already own a PS3 and I don't care for most of these games. Besides God of War III and MGS4, every other game is either good or decent, but not great and most certainly not to 'die for.'
