As a person who actually hasn't played a single God of War title, I can't justify personally nominating the game for that accolade. If I were to go with a title that defined the PlayStation way back upon it's initial release, I'd have to say Tomb Raider. Sure, it was also released for the PC and Sega Saturn, but the game shifted a lot of PlayStation hardware. I think that one title isn't enough to sell a hardware unit, but in combination with other quality games, that one release can push the...
Jesus Christ, making a big deal about videogame breasts is SO 1998.
My favourite snowboarding game is STILL SSX. Don't think anything will ever beat that.
I thought the games industry would be pretty immune to the recession, what with people investing in games so they can stay in and entertain themselves, but hey. Nintendo seem to be doing well, that's what you get for capitalising on a health-obsessed market with games like WiiFit and WiiSports.
I personally didn't think Spore lived up to the hype - it was somewhat disapointing, in my opinion. Still, good lists!
I definitely agree on the intro to FF7. It was the first time I'd ever seen something so awe-inspiring in a videogame.
I heard rumours that Ray Liotta didn't enjoy doing GTA: VC, or there was a conflict between him and Rockstar/T2. Not sure about that, though. He did good anyway, some of his lines were classic.
I knew there was a lot of hype surrounding Home at launch, a lot of people believing it would be a great social networking service - all the better that it was on a games console.
One particular reason I feel that the Home service has reached a less-than-desirable number of users is that many consumers bought the PlayStation 3 as a cheaper blu-ray player or weren't really interested in the networking side of games. It's fair to say that most gamers who wanted a strong network service ha...
I don't think there's one better way to tell a story over another, just the story itself. Halo's is one that was, at best, mildly interesting. Maybe Halo Wars will add an extra level of depth to it?
It is ridiculous - the levels are a non-profit creation in a videogame intended to let you create anything given the tools to do so exist. It's kind of stupid to do this.
I probably won't be buying World At War. Seriously, how many more World War 2-based FPS titles do we need? I also wasn't really much of a fan of CoD4.
I would still say it's unfair to disregard a game because of a change of developer. Call of Duty 3 was developed by Treyarch too, IIRC.
Looking forward to playing this then, as I enjoyed the first game.
Disney in LBP? Hah, that sounds kind of cool but not very likely.
I still need to play Spore, actually.
Personally, I think the real golden age has come and gone (I'm talking late 80s, early 90s =P) but there have been a lot of good releases lately. I can't say I'm looking forward to 'too many' games on the 360, only really Gears 2 and Fable 2. Mirror's Edge, but I'm getting that on PC.
I haven't played a decent horror game in a while, might give this one a try. Thanks for the piece.
It may be a good title for PS3 owners, but I don't believe it's a system seller like some people think.
My 360 is currently in RRoD-mode right now anyway, so I have no choice in the matter.
All good suggestions though. :)
I've bought a few of these collector's editions, some recently and usually the additions are kind of cool. My favourite ones are definitely the ones with something solid in, like an art-book or a figurine, but making-of DVDs are pretty cool too, giving a good insight into what went into the game.
Ahh, good old Grim Fandango. Broken Sword II is probably my favourite Point'n'Click though.
