God of War definitely needs a reinvention or it's in danger of getting Zelda syndrome.
Interesting stuff James. Sort of getting the sense that a new Fable this quickly was a bit unnecessary. At least they've made some bold design choices to shake things up.
Looks like it's splitting opinion already. But the more discussion the better, we think!
Are you serious? That's pretty harsh! At the very least the Xbox should throw out showers of confetti to celebrate. 20G doesn't quite cut it.
A multiplayer mode is the only thing this game is missing. Not that it needs it, there's plenty there as it is.

Anyone else just hate the music in this title? Or is it just me?
By the way, we're going to have a competition for free copies of AYIM on WiiWare soon courtesy of Broken Rules- so keep an eye out.
I'm playing through Another Code R on Wii at the moment. Really beautiful graphics in it. Enjoying the game, although a bit disappointed that it doesn't really advance the gameplay much beyond the DS version.
Good article. I think that the lack of thematic innovation in the vast majority of games is a general malady that affects movies, music and books just as much as videogames. The economic imperative to make a profit necessarily mitigates against risk-taking of any kind.
Fascinating stuff James. Rockstar certainly have a flair for storytelling.
Seems to be more useful that Ping, that's for sure.
Must admit I haven't played it yet, but IO used to be such a great developer- who can forget the halcyon days of Hitman 2?

I presume this is a PSN title? Can't find much info about it online.
I love that anecdote of the die-hard fans who stayed online for weeks after shut-down. That's serious fandom right there.
Anyone else find that the Legendary difficulty is the most fun to play? I'm only a middling FPS player, but in the likes of GoldenEye I can't say I found playing on 00 Agent to be the most fun experience!
Calling a title an FPS used to say a lot about a game. With the likes of Metroid Prime, Half Life and others, all it does is descibe the camera angle. I think it's time to abolish the FPS!
The one we've just posted....
Every time I think of this game I'm reminded of that level in Mission Impossible on the Nintendo 64 where you have to navigate your way around a party at an ambassador's residence whilst spying. If this game can channel some of the tension and excitement that I recall from this, then we're in for a treat.
