Actually Sony made a profit off of the PS4s. So you paid more than they paid to build it. Which is very uncommon. Where as the XB1 was about $100 less than cost to build. So you got $100 free.
So as far as dollar for dollar. The XB1 was a far better deal because you get $100 more product where as Sony made about $20 off of you.
All companies pull this crap. They don't reward faithful customers while constantly offer deals to new customers.
Take you internet for instance. I bet they are always offering deals that are chaeper than what you pay. That is how it is for me and I have been a Comcast customer for over a decade now.
Only thing that will change it is if there is some type of customers union.

Some people just like the environment of real people running around doing their own thing. Gives the game life. I play solo on MMOs a lot with a group usually when required.

The XB1 does power the kinects by default. It uses more power because it is doing more at once.
