Couldn't you rent the game or borrow it from a friend and base your decision to purchase it on that, instead of resorting to piracy?

Well, by this stage, most developers have built their engine and that is what takes up a lot of development time. Also, changing what platforms a game appears on wastes a lot of resources and I think devs have learnt a lesson from that.
Future games from these studios should be much quicker.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you don't upgrade the FW you will NOT be able to play the latest games or blu-ray movies that require that FW.
You also might not be able to access the Store, PSN, update your trophies etc. It doesn't matter that it disables mandatory FW, if you don't have that FW, things won't work properly, or at all. This essentially limits your console to only games already on the market.

That's the most epic match I've seen yet. They take virtually every expansion on the map and have huge epic fights. Also, I love battlecruisers :)
There were a few other areas in Gran Pulse that you unlock by doing hunts. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them.
What FF13 was sorely lacking was side quests. All you could do was hunts and upgrade equipment...meh

Takes less than 30 seconds to load and this is the longest track in the game. Depending on what car you're using I think it took me about 9 minutes a lap in GT4, while other circuits take about 3 minutes a lap.(just to give people an idea of how big this track is) <...

However, both install bases are now fairly large, making an exclusive viable.
