You're completely correct, at least for me. I don't buy new systems based on how well they can play older games or even if there is BC at all. I buy new systems for new games and if they choose to remaster an oldie, otherwise I break out the ps2/ps3 those 2 times a year. People will try to make the craziest things seem "important" just to prove their point.

There is nothing to defend because there is no problem here. The PS5's design and controller are innovative, that's just a fact. If you don't like it than that's your own personal opinion and that is what would most likely need defending.
The "setup" this girl has, with the wires and the small end table holding up the system is the problem not the system itself. With a PROPER set up she could lay the PS5 down which would improve the overall look and design of her "setup".

I liked the PS4 UI, I didn't have any issues with it. I think most average gamers/consumers also don't care. As long as the PS5's UI is shiny and new and not the SAME as the PS4's I'll be happy.

Id rather make a one time payment for a game I will enjoy than paying monthly for nothing I enjoy and it eventually becoming more than 70$, while I wait and waste time on games that are just meh, but that's just me personally. People don't think long term and that's what subscription serves are exploiting.
