It's IGN, so the point was to downplay and make Sony look bad, of course.
Illustrated by the first topic being them asking this: "Is the PSVR2 the Next Vita?" then going on to of course say it is and attempt to paint it as failed before it's even released.
I didn't realize that Quest was going to work on consoles...
And besides when it comes to VR there are so few consumers they don't even compete. At this stage, they both benefit from brining people in, because the vast majority of likely consumers hasn't even used a VR device. It's not like consoles and gaming, where the market is saturated to the point where one is actually taking consumers from the others.
Let me remind you how many companies and console manufacturers have gone under. He can say this, but it doesn't mean one of the three isn't trying to eliminate the other two. Interesting, I now see they are partnering with TSMC to build that factory. But they are only making older 22 and 28nm, The PS5 is around 5 generations ahead of that at 7nm.
Microsoft's games could have made money, Microsoft just didn't want to take the time and effort to make good games. They wanted to have a service that was so cheap that gamers couldn't refuse, even it they took a huge loss to the point it was anticompetitive and destructive to the industry. All they cared about was not losing to Sony.
They can't sell more console than they can make. PS Direct doesn't matter, they could put the consoles on any storefront, and they sell out in minutes. If you're trying to talk about scalping, it's not as big of an issue as people act like it is, even at the peak only around 10% of consoles were actually getting scalped.
