I think this is a respectable thing to do. There's a number of games out there that have improved greatly thanks to patches, but due to initial poor reviews, the "damage" was already done. To be fair, many publishers do seem to be pushing games out too early almost, which isn't always the developers fault. Plus we don't know all the circumstances involving its release in its current state or what future patching plans they have.
Due to the wide range of ...
That's really good; I'll start going on the watch for Kmart deals too then. Thanks for the tip! :)
They don't sound that apologetic, based on the quotes in the article, so this name change isn't going to make that big of a difference. The damage really has been done and if they wanted to help heal it some, they needed to try harder. They should have made a major public apology, not just a semi-generic sounding "appreciation" message, directed at anyone who was offended (especially the military). They pretty much said "we changed the name to make you happy...we apprec...
It surprises me how many good games will be overlooked, for now, by a large number of gamers. Thanks to Steam, Civilization 5 and RUSE are still getting *some* hype, but some people won't even consider picking either up any time soon because, yes, they are playing other hyped up games like Halo: Reach. There's also a number of good RPG's that just came out. More of these games will get noticed once the Holiday season nears and people consider picking up more new games, but for now...
I completely agree with darkcharizard. There's been an amazing line-up of games this year. If Nintendo's 3DS or the PSP 2 sneaks out this year also, that makes this year that much better. I don't think it's a question of which of the Big 3 is #1. With great games coming from all three of the Big 3, gamers are the real winners.
Those are all pretty solid ideas; if they added some of those, it definitely would further liven up the multiplayer aspect.
I'm still getting through Dragon Quest IX, but this looks like a pretty solid game also. I'll have to pick this one up eventually.
This game looks like a lot of fun. I remember seeing it for the Xbobx 360 version and being a bit disappointed it wasn't being released on other systems. I can't wait to pick this one up.
Anime type RPG games are a dime a dozen, but this one is definitely looking pretty good based on review. Pre-release, I was a bit on the edge about it, but I think it will be worth picking up. I've been wanting another solid RPG for a while now.
Speaking from personal experience, I think there's a lot of nostalgia involved with certain types of games. While most people don't enjoy every type of game out there, I personally can look at games like the upcoming Donkey Kong Country Returns (for example) and legitimately get excited. Games like that bring back a lot of great memories and even if it's a bit childish to some, I can enjoy the game in a similar way that I enjoyed it over a decade ago.
A lot of gam...
Wow, now that brings back a lot of memories. I still own Kirby’s Adventure for the NES and Kirby Super Star for the SNES. Lot's of good times in those games. They're both definitely worth picking up on the Virtual Console.
Insane is right. That's even more expensive then most collector edition games.
According to the article, it's only a year one (which means it can't be 807 days old), so this is a different one.
If I had the money to spare, it would make a pretty cool coffee table. It would most likely be cheaper to build it yourself though. It would make for a pretty fun home project.
Lots of reviews have come out today. Overall it seems like a worthwhile purchase. I have always enjoyed the arcade version, so this should be just as entertaining.
Interesting article. I think video games do open up the creative side of gamers and make ideas, like suggested in Inception, seem more plausible.
On the contrary, since it's a next generation handheld that their kids don't have yet, they may be wiling to pay $299 if it has games their kids want at launch.
I'm in the same boat. I agree that Nintendo is more likely to sell it cheaper than $300 at launch. However, if it's a quality product and it continues to receive strong developer support, I would be willing to pay the full $300 to get it earlier rather then waiting (maybe) 6-12 months for a price drop.
My thoughts exactly. In the end, it's just a video game though; I think some people read too much into the overall theme.
Whats disappointing about this news is that those 3 levels will be purposely left unavailable to the the majority of people who purchase it and won't pre-order it. I wish developers wouldn't withhold content in their attempts to get more early sales.
The review content itself is much more important than the score. All scores are technically semi-biased, because there's no real industry standard, even amongst reviewers for the same site. As long as they give a fair overview and judgment of the pros/cons of a game, then readers should come to their own conclusion based on those facts moreso than the score.
A game getting 10/10 doesn't mean everyone is going to love it, because we all have our own gaming tastes. At ...
