The AAA industry needs to realise that there's only so many "whales" to go around, and there's not enough to sustain this madness in the long-term.
Unless you plan on "mashing it" to a computer game, who cares?
I was in both of those betas as well and agree that the game played well, I really got into the "exploration" side of things... But I think I'll hold off buying it day one, even Ubisoft don't appear to have much confidence in it so I'll probably hang back a week or two, see how the launch goes.
... At least nobody who knows what Astroneer IS. For the rest of us, of course the description of Astroneer is going to evoke comparisons with NMS.
Many of those recreations look fine, but this isn't one of them. Too much of it looks "off" - like the excessive heat haze, weird water and overall blurriness of the textures.
I used to prefer disks... Until they become a vehicle for mandatory software installs. Nowadays disks don't have the same instant-on appeal that they used to, which along with the option of reselling it, was a major positive to me.
They seem to get "lucky" an awful lot. Sure they lack consistency across hardware releases, but they've hit it out of the park several times in the past - Wii, 3DS, DS, SNES, Gameboy NES, Game and Watch, numerous hit franchises. If any company can find lightning in a bottle, it's Nintendo.
The Wii managed to find itself in virtually every household, hospital and retirement home, and simultaneously sprayed money in the face of shareholders... In what way was it a disaster, because YOU didn't like it?
On behalf of all lifelong Nintendo fanboy's, please stop.
Agreed... Frankly, they'd be crazy not to have something Pokemon related for the NX release, just to capitalise on the Pokemon GO phenomenon.
I doubt it's deliberate, look up Hanlon's razor.
Nintendo released some "hi res" press shots from Zelda BOTW which appear to be in-engine... I'm wondering if they're sneaky NX shots: https://imgur.com/a/O8UwK
Have you read any of the gaming press since E3? Every other article seems to be about Zelda... That's why the strategy worked. It's not about how many people watch a stream (and 250,000 for ANY stream is a damned good number - it dwindled to 110,000? Still impressive *shrugs*) it's about the hype generated afterwards and Zelda IS grabbing most of the headlines.
As for the rest of your post... Do you own a Wii U and have you played those games to be able to form ...
It's been years since we had a decent winter sport game, I'd be over the moon if it was as "generic" as 1080 Snowboarding - that game was awesome :)
I'm still fence because I'm weary of Ubisoft's tendency to over-hype and outright lie, but if it reviews well I'll be all over this one like a bad rash.
Please, we beseech thee. Bless the Nintendo stream with thine eyes!
Maybe Link has been trans all along and THAT is the big reveal in the next Zelda game.
I think the implication us that your "average" SJW doesn't have an agenda or even much of an opinion, they're just looking for the next thing to be triggered over.
I'm very interested in the game as a concept, and it looks great. But the various press showings and interviews with the developers don't help... I'm getting "Molyneux" vibes, it seems like they're over-promising and over-hyping and it's actually preventing me from getting this day one. If it actually lives up to the hype I'll snap it up in a heartbeat.
Can't really argue with that, at least one person around here is.
Until there's genuine consequences for this type of abuse, it'll keep happening across all media. DMCA is in principle a good thing, but it needs an overhaul.
