I spend a few days working my way through the quests in the gerudo desert with very little to go on and this stood out to me as one of the most enjoyable moments i have had gaming in a long time.

For most people, reviews like this that appear to go against the grain are often written to get views due to the controversy they stir up. All that has changed is we have less grind trophies and less multiplayer trophies. Many hunters argue that 100 hours to get 100k kills isn't Hard as such. Anyone can do it. We see less of that now

I wouldn't say returnal was underrated. It's was an incredible game in it's genre. A genre that is not to everyones taste. It was very well received by critics and gamers
Having spent some time playing it, I can see why people's minds weren't changed. Fairly boring grind fest. Should have looked at spiderman and then guardians of the Galaxy to see how to make use of the IP

Absolutely. But it would have to be natural fun. Like world of warcraft or any big MMO can easily eat up that much time and remain fun. When games that are more story driven, huge time to completions usually means it's gonna be fluff.
They do, I'm sure it's publishers pushing for this. 500 hours means more time for.players to buy skins and cosmetic DLC

This game looked like a PS2 game and runs at about 15fps on the switch. I don't have much faith in the developers. It will be the same shoddy port that runs better because there's more power to make up for the unoptimized code
