Anyone can do a shooter. No way are putting RPG's on a lower scale than a shooter. As far as genres are concerned, I believe the hardest to get right are MMO's then RPG's, then racers, then adventure/hack slash games, then tetris, then pong and then shooters.
If you fail at RPG's at least you can try other stuff, failing shooters is just sad.
