I guess ryu missed the memo where they took out PS2 backwards compatibility. The ones that waited to buy a system will miss out on that. The last one out there able to play any PS2 games is the 80 gig but I am sure that will phase out like the 60.

If DVD is completely dropped then I think most would rather learn to illegally download movies then be forced to pay even more for HD. It is a lose lose for everyone. It will be a very bad move to complete drop regular DVDs. That will hurt even more then a certain format winning.

Raptors Sony definitely did not put Blu-Ray in the PS3 entirely for gaming. Granted only PS3 Games are fully using that extra space Blu-Ray has & movies are not. Otherwise the Spider-Man Trilogy & Pirates Trilogy would be on one Blu-Ray Disc if Blu-Ray has that much of extra space.
No matter who wins DVD will not go away for another 10 to 20 years if you ask me & when one format does win DVD will still be here.

The only thing the DS3 can do at this point is add support for all versions of Divx before the 360 does. Then the Droids will have something to say
Rush - You cant mention a single media feature that can xbox 360 do but PS3 cant. but doing the reverse is easy.
The last time I checked the XBOX 360 has Custom Soundtracks during Gameplay which can be considered media related while the Delaystation 3 cant.

This update now allows the XBOX 360 to do both Divx & Xvid right ? You are making DJ look good & like I said the only way Sony can beat Microsoft with their update is if their update supports all versions of Divx right there & then.
I hope there will be more updates to support older versions of Divx. This is a step in the right direction. The only way the Delaystation 3's Divx & Xvid's update can out do this update is if that supports all versions of Divx if & before Microsoft updates the 360 to support all versions & of course the Delaystation 3 will have to let you play the files right from the DVD Drive using a CD or DVD.
