Didn't disagree but with old games that haven't been popular enough to get real remakes, I mean, won't can't just ignore that they don't own the games. The founder of night dive has talked about how it's a huge pain to figure out who owns some of these games and some of the Japanese companies in particular actually have this bizarre belief that a game should only be available for a limited time on the platform they were meant for. Or they just don't want to engage ...
But also only pertains to physical copies which are for most games only 20-30% of sales nowadays.
I don't think this includes digital sales, which is the majority of sales nowadays.
@below, $20 today is worth less than $15 in 2017 dollars.

Square is promoting the FF game series it's actively selling at the moment, with a still fairly recent title out and the third to come.

Last I checked they just put out a new one. You can't make a new game with the size of teams they use on the remakes. That's often something companies have new teams do while writers and concept artists are working on a new game because you don't need writers and concept artists etc for a remake
