The tablet LIKE features are meant to appeal for the mainstream "Wii fit" adult crowd. But the BEAUTY of this thing, is it has an alter ego, designed for the ULTIMATE "HARDCORE" GAMER. It is designed around the idea of a consolized DS or a broken apart "FREE" DS. That second screen touch goodness is perfectly shown in ZombiU, cleaning up HUD, easily accessible weapons w/o pausing etc. They went from a SIMPLE WII, to A COMPLEX AS YOU CAN GET YOU HARDCORE HOMOS C...

Kudos to Sony, IF they follow through with it consistently, including its game developers.

But honestly, things like and Microsoft's "smartglass" are nothing more than a designed distraction to the consumer, to sway them away from Nintendo. MicroSony: "see, we have this too, no need to look at Nintendo"

Sony fanboy, you should be mad at Microsoft for eating HALF the Playstation userbase like invading termites. Nintendo is not Sony's rival uTrollu.

"Time: Can you play Wii games on the Wii U GamePad?

Ninty: No, Wii games are only playable on the main screen."

Damn! I was really hoping for this feature.

Good luck waiting until March 2014, I commend you for your patience.

For me I've enjoyed all 3 consoles over the years, but now its time to push them a bit to the side. I welcome and can't wait for the U.

It will def. be a hot item. Especially for those families who have been hesitant on buying tablets for their kids, the Wii U will be a very nice alternative. Not to mention HD Nintendo, & Nintendo TVii...U will be another mainstream monster.

Old man Pachter is a troll but still knows whats hot. He knows what will sell not just for kids, but for their parents. Its the in between crowd (13-25) that cringe at Nintendo, but even many of those will jump on ship. Nintendo is an unstoppable mainstream beast, & Pachter cannot deny its success.

Exactly, and we have not heard any announcement of Ninty going another direction.

The ONLY way I MIGHT believe "3 overclocked Broadway cores" is:
1- its critical for backwards compatibility
2- Wii U featuring a really advanced GPU...with the rumored GPGPU functions for new games that won't be as reliant on the CPU.

Do not believe.

This is a troll tactic designed to rile up fans, in hopes to stir up enough negative mainstream articles so that it forces Nintendo to address them (Sept. 13). Its not going to happen. We will find out the real specs when it gets released & dissected. Until then, patience is required.

Disappointing, but if it can upscale to 1080p then its better than nothing.

As an annual Madden addict that is always disappointed with EA, I must admit, this iteration is the best by far. Not saying much, since its expected, but '13 really is the most fun Madden. The new physics engine especially makes running the football much more enjoyable/realistic.

This is Nintendo's safest console since the SNES, it's guaranteed NOT to fail. Wii U doesn't have to have as gaudy sales #s as Wii, in fact if it finishes with a LTD of 50 mil WW (or half the sales of Wii), it will be a big success. There will not be as great a difference in gfx this gen, since all the consoles will work under the same resolutions... also, its nintendo's first HD system which will automatically renew peoples interest in many of their franchises.

@Lucretia

Couldn't afford to make the Wii? Nintendo is made of $$$, sitting on billions. It was not about that at all. With a new formidable monster named Xbox in the fray, they had to carve out a new consumer type and expand gaming commercially. It was genius. Why would they continue banging their head haplessly against the wall by continuing the same path as N64 and GCN, against behemoths of Sony & Microsoft? They had to change the game, create something different...

Do you remember the garbage named "Gun" on 360?

@chukamachine
There is no need for Nintendo to come out with peak graphics at launch. They are not competing against consoles that are on fumes like PS360 (yes, I realize they sell better than Wii now, but still..sales have slowed to a crawl). JUST LIKE, the 3DS was not competing against PSP. Wii U versions are superior by DEFAULT over the old consoles, also many folks are ready for new h...

Nintendo isn't competing with PS360, just like 3DS was not competing with PSP. What I'm saying is, Nintendo is about being fiscal and efficient. They will not go over the top and blow their wad graphically during their launch period. They will gradually build the console up and yes, to the point where their graphics will be respectable compared to PS4/720. There is no doubt that Wii U "blows PS360 out the water" in terms of specs. It is nothing like GC to Wii, its more li...

Totally agree, excellent points. Its a shame but NintendoLand should have been the opener at E3, with the announcement that its bundled with the console at launch. Good news is, Reggie stated in a recent IGN interview that he wants a high attach rate for NintendoLand, so maybe we can read between the lines there?

All I know is, if Nintendo were smart they would future proof the Wii U. If their intent is to steal the bored 360/PS3 "core" gamer, then it needs to separate itself & it will take more than the new controller.

As an OG Nintendo fan, I would like to buy just 1 console this time around. So, its not just gaining hardcore fans, but also about keeping Nintendo fans from supporting the competition for certain game needs. example: I love sports games, where realism...
