Baka you're an old, decent and active member here in n4g so i'll respect that. however; i disagree with your negative take on the whole review, the reviewer did have some vlaid points that has been raised by many veteran players of the Soul community including myself.
people will still enjoy SCV but it doesn't hide the fact that some of the core changes to the game had some significant negative impacts to many veteran players.
Sonic is like Mario, both are legends regardless to the rollercoaster the first is/was having.
i can understand the frustration behind but as long as there are people playing and enjoying these games why would you wish to deny them this fun?

the game is a disappointment on almost every level even the smallest yet very important of details.. you can't even change the timer in PvP mode to infinite! so if you're playing offline with friends a match cannot go longer than 60 seconds! which is bullshit.
a very interesting idea i'm sure it'll work. a new character that plays the introducer part to the world of Nosgoth and its history. i like it.
but, like you said it will be hard to come up with a character as likeable as Kain and Raziel but it's not impossible. with the right design, voice, and story, it can be achieved.
