3D is here to stay, so long as television company's make them and once people start feeling the need to upgrade there will be a slow but increasing demand for it.
The reason it's concerning is that we are almost at 5 years since the PS3 launched and if you look at last generation ICO and Shadow of the Colossus were churned out in within 4 years from 2001 (ICO) and 2005 (SotC), don't forget the PS2 launched in 2000.
This is the very reason why I am worried about the next generation, videogames may take a millennium to finish.
It depends on a variety of factors. Sometimes games simply work better when they aren't dragged into 15+ hours and it also depends on the price of the game and the actual replayability ie what new things do you get out of it. Even a game like Uncharted 2 which I think is phenominally executed for the most part out stayed it's welcome by about 3 hours and some games just work better as a shorter game ie Portal
Wow...9 disagrees? Why do people have to hate on my opinion are none of these relevant points? Uncharted 2 isn't original and brings nothing new in terms of gameplay mechanics how can you disagree with that?. Maybe the fact I thought it was long and I thought the puzzles weren't good is too subjective but you can't argue there is nothing new, innovative original about Uncharted 2.
As much as I did like Uncharted 2 there is nothing original about the game which makes me feel this game is a little overrated. From the Gears gunplay to the Tomb Raider platforming and to the Indiana Jones narrative nothing about the game is original and originality get's a lot of points from me.
The game's length was also an issue for me maybe it was too long but the final three hours leading up to the climax felt like it dragged on way to long and it began to feel ...
Wow....people it's not Destructoid it's just one guy's opinion. Anyhow if you're going to hate his piece do it properly and don't just say "typical destructoid blah blah blah" or "this guy doesn't know anything, blah blah blah" sheesh...
How is it free with The Orange Box? I bought all those games it was just packaged together. Of course Portal isn't a $60 game, everything else included made it a $60 game. I'm not defending Killzone, maybe it is a game which could have done with a longer singlplayer I dont know, I don't even care for it. It's just this obsession with it's length is ludicrous unless you only care for the singleplayer.
Length of a singleplayer shouldn't matter so much. Portal is 3 hours long and look at how much praise it's got. It should be about whether or not the length is perfect for the game. Uncharted 2 is a game I think is great but should have been cut short 2 hours as everything leading to the climax felt like a drag. Anyhow, shooters like Killzone/CoD I'm not exactly looking for a 20 hour singleplayer.
It simply cannot be 100% even for Xbox 360 and PS3, a multiplayform game will look better on one console even if it's just by a fingernail. We know that in terms of raw horsepower the PS3 probably has an edge and in terms of easy of use the 360 wins. It's really about what console the developers want to focus on first as their reference point.
Why doesn't Microsoft instead of just purchasing limited rights to DLC, save that money and purchase exclusive rights to a game? Especially if you look at their exclusive lineup this year it's simply deplorable. All that XBL Gold money so you can have DLC a few weeks before PC and PS3 owners? If that's what MS and fanboys care about then god help them all.
Just for MGS3 I would. Don't get me wrong, MGS1 and 2 are superb in their own right but MGS3 was the game that made me believe that videogames are art. Hopefully they will revamp MGS1 somehow since the game doens't hold up to well but a simple HD facelift to the PS2 games would suffice since they still look good enought in my opinion.
Never played it but does a 13 year old game like this hold up well by today's standard or will it feel like I'm playing a very primitive 3D action adventure game?
'Why an MGS HD remake could be the worst thing ever' that's not sensationalized just a tad bit?
To be the RE4 of the current gen you need to do what RE4 did for third person shooters and thst is to completely revitalize gameplay mechanics and make them much more effective then whatever game is out now. Gears of War kind of did this by merging gameplay mechanics of RE4 and Kill..err something but the issue was that the singleplayer was of Gears is meh.
Nintendo won't want attention taken away with the 3DS and a possible redesign 3DS in early 2012 so a new console by Nintendo will probably be out early 2013 with comparable graphics with the 360/PS3.
The X720 would have run out of steam having lived the longest so a new console should be out by 2015 and since the PS3 sells better then the 360 worldwide they will want to another headstart.
PS4 should be out by 2017 with an announcement in 2016 since Sony...
Looks interesting enough. So long as you're not running in a straight line the entire game then this could be a pretty spectacular game.
not that I know what he means by it. What Ipersonally think is that reviewers's minds are so jaded therefore they don't represent what most gamers are thinking when playing a game. Reviewers will over analyse things, which for a gamer who comes in with a fresh mind will not, compare, contrast, look for the pros and cons as much as reviewers will. Though Molyneux has to be more specific, or else it'll seem he is just acting like a douche
So long as people enjoy unwrapping games, enjoy manuals and cases, enjoy borrowing games, enjoy giving presents, heck even enjoy shopping in general then tangible products such as discs are always going to be the standard. Digital downloads will grow but it will never replace discs.
What do you mean 29.99 to 4.99, do you mean the price to buy a Blu Ray movie or just the disk? Nonetheless from what I've seen the movies are roughly the same price.. maybe occasionally a few bucks more
I'm probably just a noob but I've been playing FIFA for years and can probably only effectively do three skill/trick moves.
