this is actually the new version, critical strike, The original was ported then, but it has been updated since then. Watch the video ;)
probably mate, Im pretty bad at CS myself, give me a RTS though and im happy to battle ;)
It shows that he is playing it and also shows how to do it. But agreed, actually playing it would be a whole other story
Thanks for the comment, but I am not sure you actually read the article or know what WMD is.
The WMD model is exactly what you are describing, a direct connection between the developer and the gamers. The difference is that through WMD not only can you give feedback to the developers, but if the game is successful, the developers also give you money back.
So by "investing", I mean you are supporting the developer and it is a 2 way street, not a on...
Yeah I have had that feedback a lot in regards to the article. I guess the main point I was trying to make is that compared to the WMD model of supporting a game in development, Kickstarter really offers nothing back to the gamer.
It is a win win situation for the developer regardless of how the game turns out. Where as with the WMD model the gamer can not only support the developer but the developer supports the gamer too by giving a share of profits back to the gamer.
You do realise that refunds are not a right but that they may or may not be given? Could you please show me where Steam says they will refund you?
You do realise that pre ordering a digital copy of a game is the most absurd thing ever? You do realise that if you dont pre order you still get the game?
Im not sure how old you are but if you were around when Steam launched you would know that the exact complaints that are being said about Steam are being said ab...
ok take your fan boy hat off for a minute and re-read what i wrote and what you wrote.
You do realise if you have a billing issue of some sort Steam will lock you out of all your games and Gaben wont come running to your house and apologise right?
You do realise that Valve is out to make money like any other company right, their company policy is not make games for gamers, its called make games for money.
You do realise that EA was actually a...
lol, its a shame Steam has so many fanboys. Competition is good for you as a gamer, youre the one that benefits, you get more choices, you get cheaper games, you get Valve improving to compete.
Oh how quickly the young ones forget that Valve forced people to install Steam with Half Life (just like origin), Steam had so many problems at launch (just like Origin). Neither are good for gamers, they both are a platform that lock your games in, you literally have to ask for permis...
did he just have no idea what so ever what country the game is based in??
I think you are missing the point. If this was a retail store or quiet possibly any other store and you purchased a game, then realised that hey its the wrong version, you can take it back unopened and you are entitles to a refund or exchange. Thats not asking to be special, that's just consumer rights .
But because Steam is hiding behind no phone number, no live chat and no local office, they can say "no" and that's it. There is nothing you can do about it....
I wasn't sure what kind of response the article would get as there are a lot of blind followers of Steam. Hopefully more people will approve the article and give it some heat so others can see how something so simple like changing a game from gift to library wont even be done. Part 2 of the article will be up tomorrow. Good to see there are others that can see that Steam is not always deserving of the pedestal it is put upon.
.
thank goodness it doesn't happen to me in Mirrors edge! I love that game and it would kill me if i couldn't have played it through to the end
unbelievably deep. If you can get past the initial learning curve there's a lot of gaming to be had in EVE.
Funny you should say that. We get that feedback a lot :)
Theres a million gaming sites out there, we have to have a point of difference don't we :P
thanks for the sympathy guys :P
Trust me its the worse thing ever. I just felt a bit better when i researched it and found i wasn't the only on. seeing as I found a solution ill try it later but im not game yet, still feeling a little nauseous.
thanks for +1 month on HL3...
Its not a matter of it being horrible, its a matter of knowing what is in the fine print and encouraging EA to make changes which make Origin better. As the article states, the more choices we have as gamers the better. Competition is a good thing. Steam being the only option isn't a good alternative, but with Origin's current state, Steam is a better option. I would much rather have 3 GOOD competitors to Steam.
Agreed. Its nearly always USA vs the world in some way. 1C has a few games where you play as the other side and now Paradox is trying something different too. Its good to change things up and offer something different.
