For me it's perfect. Do you know that it's the Old Snake face from MGS4 but edited and with Young Snake textures? If you liked the Old Snake face in that game I can't understand why you don't like this one. I'm sure that if this was an offcial announcement of a new Metal Gear from Kojima, you would love that face.
Remade by Konami? No... thar remake was created by another studio (which I don't remember the name) and it was an absolute disaster. It was nothing to do with the first one. And this is a fan art project. They are complete different things.
