It isn't a matter of "caring" it is a matter of credibility...It is one thing to criticize a particular fanboy while claiming to be unbiased, but when you admit to "hating on" Sony fanboys more, your claims can't be taken at face value, no matter what the reason.

According to Metacritic, the PS3 had more "quality" exclusives than the competitors, but still didn't outsell...Mainly due to the price point.
On paper, this year seems to be in favor of the PS3 by a wide margin in terms of exclusives, so that can't hurt. If Sony drops the price (as rumored) it should gain a lot of ground...at least in comparison to the 360
They don't comment on "rumor or speculation" but they had no problem commenting on the PS2 emulation rumor...Interesting

I agree that there is always "Fat to trim", but when a corporation looks at their business on paper, they usually start with the departments that are producing the biggest loss for a quick fix..."streamlining" isn't usually done 'til later.
The design of the 360 definitely wasn't thought out, but it is still leaps and bounds better than the original
It doesn't make sense for any company to cut a profitable department
This isn't necessarily proof, but I am pretty sure that only the b/c PS3s had a chrome plate around the disc drive, and the one in the vid clearly isn't chrome...Not concrete...but that is the only thing that I can see that supports the claim.
Anyone out there have a b/c PS3 that has a matte finish? or a 40 gig with a chrome finish?
