Just like you can't yell fire in a crowded theater, you can't threaten to kill someone because they are gay... or at least where I live you can't. Many of the reasons browsers get updated today are due to security flaws. Whichever browser the PS3 browser is based on will have the same issues. Just because it is on the PS3 doesn't mean code can't run on it. The PS3 has Java, scripts, and we know the processor/environment (PPC, Unix).
Will I get some anti-virus protection for my PS3? Nahh, I'll rely on my firewall and the obscurity of the browser for now. There are easier targets than my PS3.
While Oblivion was good I was disappointed in a few gameplay systems that don't quite work out. I didn't finish it, but my character is powerful enough to take on everything easily so I got bored. Maybe this expansion will be more interesting.

Where did you hear IBM had 32nm chips ready for 2008? And did it say that they would be using them in the PS3, or just making them? I know the cell is used in server blades provided by IBM, so I'm always suspect as to people's assumptions that the CELL developments and PS3 are one in the same.

Hollywood cares if it makes them money. So if your game console is used by enough people that buy HD videos then they care. It's all about money.
Linux would really be best served by having the primary libraries re-compiled and by having the SPU's designated with prioritized tasks. I've always wondered about people who groan about having all these choices. The ability to make a choice is the reason why any system gets upgraded in the next revision. Competition is good for the consumer so lets keep things that way.
It's somewhat useless for playing videos. Sure I can get VLC on it, but the quality just doesn't seem right and post processing doesn't work well either. I still use my dedicated (MVIX) box for that. BUUUUUT, it does still run the applications well enough. So if I want to download a bunch of stuff without running the main computer I can let the PS3 do it. I can also use it to stream music, read e-mail and surf the web... Pretty much what I do with my machine 90% of the time.

Are you saying that a 15ft run of VGA cable is as good as a 3ft one if used on the same TV? Or how about the odds of a 50 ft VGA cable being worse than a 1ft HDMI? I think everyone already knows a crappy device will affect any cable/format comparison.

Some of the lord of the rings games were good. They look like they are putting some work in this one, so it might be decent.
HD displays take up a small part of the market right now. I'm not saying there are not a large number of HD viewing audience, but HD is not everywhere yet. A lot of people don't realize there is a significant difference and a lot of people just don't care about visual quality that much. Unless they get used to the higher quality first and then get subjected to the low end most of those people just won't care.

I say the sequel should be a massive game that goes from treasure spot to treasure spot. You pick the spot and complete the adventure there. Now that they have most of the engine down, they can focus on content, gameplay and performance tweaks.
Just remember though, they aren't going to make more games like this unless we buy them, so buy the games while they are hot!
